Using your computer all day can easily cause fatigue by simply looking at the bright screen for hours. As the day progresses, you don’t want to look at a bright blue panel, so both Mac and Mojave include a “Night Shift” where your desktop heats up during the day.
With Mojave Apple has advanced one step further and added Dynamic Desktop. What this means is to switch to wallpaper to match the time of day. It also depends on the location. The style of the wallpaper you see at noon on June 1 will be different from the same wallpaper on December 1, primarily due to changes in the clock and differences in sunset time. By December, it often gets dark until 4 pm.
By default Mojave comes with two variants, a beautiful Mojave desert and a very simple color gradient. By noon we expect a bright blue background. At 10 pm you will be offered much darker, almost black wallpaper to reflect the time of day.
You are not only limited by these two options in Mojave, but only with 16 images in a set, sometimes they do not change for a while. Between noon and 3 p.m. we often don’t see any changes when using the Mojave Dynamic desktop.
You can create your own Dynamic Desktop, but it’s not easy. Ideally, you’ll need at least 16 images taken from the same place, translated from morning to midnight. It’s a one-and-a-half task, even for a semi-professional photographer.

07:00: Pick an elixir
Whether it’s the cuppa to ease you into the day, the mid-morning refresher, or the afternoon pick-me-up, drinks are being required to do a whole lot more than satisfy a thirst. Today’s quenchers also need to bring nourishing vitamins and minerals to the equation, superior hydrating powers, healthy bacteria, healing enzymes or detoxifying elements. Increasingly, the drinks industry is looking East for new elixirs – the traditional Javan tonic jamu and the Japanese tea mugicha are having a moment – while inventive drinks such as water kefir, from Mexico, and sap water, from north-central Europe, are shaking up spa menus.
